Dental Implants In Aventura, FL

Overview

Dental implants are the modern, reliable way to replace a lost tooth. A dental implant has three parts: an artificial root usually made from titanium, a prosthetic tooth, and an abutment that connects the two. Dental implants last a long time and the attached replacement teeth are resistant to staining. Since a dental implant fills in the empty space of a lost tooth, it helps to prevent the neighboring teeth from shifting. Call Aventura Dental Center in Aventura, FL to schedule an appointment with seasoned dentist Dr. David Bistritz.

Our practice offers three types of dental implants which include mini implants, single-tooth implants, and All-on-4® implants. What To Expect

Before a dental implant is placed, a thorough examination will be conducted to assess the health and strength of the gums and jawbone. If you are a good candidate for dental implants, digital x-rays and physical impressions will help Dr. Bistritz determine the best placement for the dental implants during the procedure. Patients will be given local anesthesia and sedation if needed while the titanium post is placed into the jawbone. Over 3 – 6 months, the bone and implant will fuse while healing and once the implant is secure, the false tooth/teeth will be attached to the implant using a connector. Dr. Bistritz will adjust the implant and replacement teeth for a comfortable and accurate fit.

More about our dental implants:

A single-tooth implant is ideal for replacing a single missing tooth that still has enough bone underneath the gums to support the implant.

If a regular implant won’t work, you might be able to use a mini-dental implant. The artificial tooth will still fit securely in the gap and look normal. But the root’s diameter is much smaller, meaning you can get away with much less bone for the smaller root to go into. Mini-dental implants aren’t as strong as regular ones, but it’s still a good option if traditionally sized implants won’t work.

All-on-4 dental implants are implant-supported dentures that can replace a full arch of teeth. To give your replacement teeth the stability they need, four implants are put in — two near the front of your mouth and two near the back. The full arch of teeth is secured to these dental implants, making sure they stay in place.

Treatment Aftercare

Most patients have little to no pain when their dental implants are finished, but some may have temporary soreness and discomfort that can be relieved with an over-the-counter pain medication. To prolong the life of dental implants, you should have a good home oral care routine including brushing, flossing, and rinsing with antibacterial mouthwash. Regular dental appointments for professional cleanings and dental exams are also important to implant care. Dental implants can last a long time with proper care, but may eventually need to be repaired or replaced.

Insurance Coverage

If your dental implants are considered medically necessary, your dental insurance plan might cover some or most of the cost. However, cosmetic dental implants are usually not covered by insurance. During your consultation, our office can confirm your coverage and discuss payment options and financing plans.

Natural Replacements

Whether you’re missing one tooth, several, or all, dental implants are a long-lasting solution that look and feel natural. With dental implants, you don’t have to worry about false teeth shifting, what you eat, or messy adhesives — you can simply smile and enjoy your beautiful new teeth. If you are missing teeth or have a crown, bridge, or removable dentures, call our office to ask about the benefits of dental implants.

Treatment Aftercare

Once the teeth are in proper alignment, it is important to use a Vivera retainer to maintain the results. A retainer does not need to be worn as many hours a day as Invisalign teeth aligners (most patients only wear their retainer at night), but this will be determined by Dr. Bistritz. You should continue to visit our office twice a year for professional dental cleanings and exams, and follow a good home oral care routine to keep your newly straightened teeth healthy.
