Dental Examination In Aventura, FL

Overview

Proper oral health is essential to maintaining a beautiful smile, which is why regular dental exams are imperative. At Aventura Dental Center, our team has the diagnostic tools and training necessary to help spot dental issues before they’ve had a chance to get worse. For example, our digital x-rays can find cavities and infection in teeth that otherwise look healthy and normal. We also utilize ViziLite® Plus to detect the early stages of oral cancer. Call our Aventura, FL dental office today to schedule an exam with our talented dentist, Dr. David Bistritz. We look forward to helping you get back on track by taking proactive measurements in improving your oral health.

What To Expect

A thorough dental examination will start with a one-on-one conversation between you and Dr. Bistritz. During this time, he will ask about your recent health, including any current medications, illnesses, and surgeries. He will also ask if you have noticed any changes or areas of concern. To get a complete picture of your mouth, Dr. Bistritz will begin by taking digital x-rays to see the teeth, gums, and bones. He will then perform a visual check of the mouth and use palpation (touch) to check for signs of oral cancer, decay, and disease. Dr. Bistritz will also use probing tools to check the health of the gums by measuring gum pocket depth and looking for areas of inflammation.

Treatment Aftercare

If Dr. Bistritz finds any areas of concern during the dental examination, he will talk to you about possible preventative measures that may be performed at our office or at home. He will let you know when you should schedule your next dental exam to have your progress checked. In some cases, Dr. Bistritz may recommend further testing or refer you to a specialist.

Insurance Coverage

The cost for an annual dental examination varies among practices, but we will work closely with you to determine the exact cost. The front office will consult with your insurance company prior to your visit since most cover this cost up to 100%. If you are paying out of pocket, our office will be able to discuss possible payment options during your consultation.
