Dental Implants Provide Hope
- August 16, 2016
Hello and welcome to another August edition of the Aventura Dental Center blog!
If you are a permanent resident of Florida, or just visiting the area for a while, we can set you up with a great restorative dentistry solution designed to give you your life back following tooth loss.
With today’s post, we wanted to discuss the ins and outs of dental implants. Keep reading, and then be sure to get in touch to schedule your consultation.
How Do Implants Work?
This solution involves a simple two-step process. The dental implants themselves are prosthetic tooth roots made of titanium, that are inserted into your gums and allowed to fuse with your jawbone for a number of months.
This will allow for a strong, durable bond between the prosthetic and your jawbone. Basically, this provides the kind of stability that dentures would never give you.
Later you will need to return to our office for the next stage of the procedure: the restoration. Once the site is healed, Dr. Bistritz will bond the artificial tooth to the implant’s abutment.
In the end, you’ll get a tooth that’s all but indistinguishable from any natural tooth. The implant fits snugly in place, helping prevent the buildup of food that bacteria love so much. Plus, by filling the space down to the jawbone, the implant will keep the bone healthy.
Can Dental Implants Make Life Better?
Absolutely! There are so many things that implants can do for you including enhancing your chewing power. Because dental implants are fused to the bone they can help you regain the functionality that you lost along with your teeth.
Implants are designed to create a strong, lifelike experience, restoring the majority of the bite power of your natural teeth. This means you can eat whatever you want whenever you want with 100% confidence!
Beyond the practical reasons, implants will also boost your appearance and confidence levels by giving you a more complete smile and a fuller facial structure.
At Aventura Dental Center we custom-build our restorations to look as realistic as possible. We use materials that closely replicate the look and feel of natural teeth so that no one will be able to tell your teeth aren’t the real deal. We can also mold them to the specific shape and size you need.
If you prefer dentures but want to make them more stable, we offer two kinds of dentures that actually use implants for support. Implant-retained dentures use implants with ball attachments, whereas implant-supported dentures use implants with a bar attachment. Both use the implants to anchor your dentures securely and comfortably to your gums.
How Can I Get Started?
If you feel inspired, you can start today! Dental implants can prevent disease and decay, make it easier to eat the food you love, and even protect your jawbone from deterioration. Who wouldn’t want all those things?
