A Closer Look At Dental Implants
- July 25, 2016
Hello and welcome to another July edition of the Aventura Dental Center blog!
If you are an adult in the Aventura, Florida area who has been living with the aftermath of tooth loss, we want to help you take back your biting power to allow you to eat the foods you love, and to regain the confidence required to share your smile with the world.
To get the job done, dental implants are your best bet.
Before you make such a significant investment in your future health and happiness, though, you will probably have a few questions. Here are a few that our patients usually raise before or during their dental implant consultation with Dr. Bistritz…
What Are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are the modern method for replacing missing teeth. An implant has three parts: an artificial root usually made from titanium, a prosthetic tooth, and an abutment that connects the two. Because they use roots just like healthy teeth, there is no need to rely on nearby teeth to hold implants in place.
What Kind Of Implants Are Available?
There are many different types of dental implants nowadays including mini implants, All-on-4 (a full set of replacement teeth placed on 4 strategically placed implants), All-on-6 (same as All-on-4 but with six implants), and implant-retained dentures. We will figure out which type makes the most sense for you and then make it happen.
Will My Implant Surgery Hurt?
No. It is a simple two-step surgical procedure. We will do everything in our power to make it a pain-free and pleasant experience for you. That includes employing sedation dentistry techniques to ensure that your visit is comfortable.
Are Dental Implants Comfortable?
Our implants are crafted to feel like your natural teeth. They’re given enough time to securely fuse with your jawbone and are the same size of a real root. No other artificial option even comes close to feeling this comfortable.
Will Implants Restore My Normal Look?
Yes! Your smile will be complete again. And there will be more facial structure support (i.e. no more collapsed cheeks). So, your appearance will definitely get a boost as will your confidence and willingness to socialize. But research shows that dental implants are more than just cosmetic dentistry. They can prevent disease and decay, make it easier to eat the food you love, and even protect your jawbone from deterioration.
Can Dental Implants Provide A Permanent Fix?
Yes, but they will require maintenance, just like real teeth.
Brushing twice a day for two or more minutes, flossing and rinsing regularly, and visiting the dentist every three to six months help them stay in excellent condition.
Can I Schedule My Consultation Now?
Yes! In fact, the only way to see if dental implants are right for you is to schedule a consultation with our team. At that point, we will be able to examine your mouth, take digital X-rays, and assess your bone structure.
